How to drop the rope while wakesurfing
Dropping the rope is not about throwing it away as soon as you stand. The rope becomes unnecessary when the board is in the wave's power and the rider can control speed with small pressure changes.

Find the pocket with light line tension
Stand tall enough to move freely, keep the hips over the board, and use gentle front-foot pressure to move forward. When the line goes slack repeatedly, the wave is carrying the rider rather than the rope.
Release without changing everything else
Hand the handle toward the boat or toss it safely as the coach directs. Do not jump, lean back, or freeze. Keep the same board pressure and eye line that created slack before the release.
Learn recovery before extending the ride
If the rider drifts backward, a calm forward movement can rebuild speed. If the board races toward the platform, back-foot pressure slows it. A coach can give immediate distance cues while the captain holds the line.
