Hydrofoil guide
What to expect from a first hydrofoil session in Miami
A hydrofoil rises because the wing below the water creates lift. That means small pressure changes have a larger effect than they do on a standard board. The first session is about control and respect for the equipment, not maximum height.

Handle the foil exactly as directed
Foil components are hard and edged. Carry, enter, and separate from the equipment using the crew's instructions. Keep clear of another rider's foil and never improvise a launch near the platform.
Learn board contact before sustained flight
A stable tow with the board near the surface helps the rider understand stance and pressure. Brief controlled lifts can follow. If the foil climbs too aggressively, reducing pressure calmly is more useful than fighting it with a large movement.
Fall away and reset
The coach explains the safest available fall pattern for the setup and conditions. After a fall, wait for the captain's approach and follow pickup directions. Fatigue reduces fine control, so shorter attempts can be more productive.
